The hardy nomads of Mongolia live in rural areas. Yet, when they are sick, it often takes a day's journey over dirt ruts to get to a hospital for assessment and treatment. Their lifestyle involves moving with their livestock, which sustains the gravely desert land, the steppe land, and the high taiga. The Gobi Desert area and the steppes do not have enough rainfall to support crops and the taiga is too cold for growing crops.
Nomads are quitting their way of life, which has sustained the land for thousands of years. For more information on the life of the nomads in Mongolia, see Gobi Women's Song.
Nomadicare's loyal workers include the Team, whose members do field work in Mongolia, and Helpers. Nomads and Doctors are those directly assisted by Nomadicare.
